The redbullxalps athletes are announced 2025

The athletes taking on the world’s toughest adventure race have been announced. They come from all over the world and consist of seasoned veterans, record-breakers, World Cup winners and talented rookies ready to take on the challenge that is Red Bull X-Alps.
The density of top athletes is higher than ever before
Ulrich Grill, race co-founder, says, “This is one of the strongest line-ups of athletes in the history of Red Bull X-Alps. The density of top athletes is higher than ever before. Each one of them had to go through a strict selection process to be accepted, making sure they’re able and ready to take on the world’s toughest adventure race. Red Bull X-Alps 2025 is going to be the most exciting edition yet!”
Will Chrigel defend his title?
Chrigel Maurer (SUI1) is back to defend the crown that he has worn since first winning Red Bull X-Alps in 2009. But this year there is no shortage of contenders ready to take him on. They include his fellow Swiss athletes Patrick von Känel (SUI2), second in 2021, and rookie Lars Meerstetter (SUI4) who supported him in 2023.
The French ranks are also full of athletes hungry for a shot at the podium. They include Damien Lacaze (FRA1), the surprise second placed athlete of 2023, World Cup and distance record ace Maxime Pinot (FRA2), and Tim Alongi (FRA3) last edition’s highest placed rookie. Tanguy Renaud-Goud (FRA4), who recently broke the hike and fly world record, also returns. “This is the last true adventure race,” says Lacaze.
Long-standing veterans
Well-known veterans include Aaron Durogati (ITA1) who’s competed six times, Tobias Grossrubatscher (ITA2), back for the fifth time and Tom de Dorlodot (BEL1) who has competed in every edition since 2007. “I still have a lot more to do,” he says. “I’m coming out of a serious injury, and it really motivates me to come back at my strongest level.”
One female athlete
Returning German athlete Celine Lorenz (GER2) is the race’s only female in the line-up and she is very eager to join the race again. The race committee would’ve liked to have seen more female athletes like in previous editions, but unfortunately, there weren’t enough female applications this year.
