BGD Launches The Typhoon: A Lightweight Reflex Wing Built for Adventure

BGD_Typhoon

Bruce Goldsmith Design (BGD) has officially unveiled the Typhoon, a lightweight reflex paramotor (PPG) wing engineered for pilots who live for adventure. Positioned as a sporty intermediate wing, the Typhoon sits just above the Blizzard in BGD’s lineup—offering more speed, enhanced precision, and the signature “colorful” handling the brand is known for.

Versatile Performance for Every Mission

The Typhoon is designed as a high-performance all-rounder. Whether you are focused on dynamic carving, cross-country (XC) exploration, or relaxed weekend cruising, this wing delivers a stable yet playful ride.

“Light and durable materials mean it’s incredibly easy to launch, handles beautifully, and packs small for your travels,” states the BGD design team.

Key Technical Specifications

For technical-minded pilots, the Typhoon combines a modern reflex profile with high-end hardware:

  • Aspect Ratio: 5.14 (Optimized for a balance of glide precision and stability).
  • Trimmer Range: 12cm, featuring smooth brass roller-cams for long-term durability.
  • Speed System: An additional 12cm of travel via the speedbar for high-speed transitions.
  • Weight Class: Intermediate (EN-B equivalent feel) to Advanced.
  • Steering: Tip-steering toggles come as standard for effortless control while accelerated.

Effortless Launching & Rock-Solid Stability

One of the Typhoon’s standout features is its lightweight sail construction. This makes it an ideal choice for:

  • Light-Wind Takeoffs: The wing rises intuitively without overshooting.
  • Low-Bulk Travel: Its reduced weight allows for compact packing, perfect for “hike-and-fly” paramotoring.
  • Solid Nose Technology: An optimized line layout and solid nose ensure a clean, pressurized leading edge during all phases of flight.

Customized Wing Loading

The Typhoon is available in three sizes: 20, 23, and 26. BGD offers specific advice on wing loading to match your flying style:

  • For Progression: Fly at the lower end of the weight range for “chilled,” predictable reactions.
  • For Dynamics: Experienced pilots should fly at higher wing loadings to unlock the Typhoon’s full carving potential and dynamic agility.
