Ozone Sublite Released: The World’s Lightest Submarine-Style Race Harness

The paragliding world’s most anticipated piece of hike-and-fly gear has officially arrived. Ozone has announced the release of the Sublite, an ultra-light, submarine-style competition harness that redefines the balance between aerodynamic efficiency and weight.
While the Size M is available for immediate order, pilots looking for Sizes S and L can expect availability starting in January 2026.
Developed for the Red Bull X-Alps
The Sublite isn’t just a prototype; it has been battle-tested. Developed with direct input from elite pilot Damien Lacaze, the harness was rigorously vetted during this year’s Red Bull X-Alps. According to Ozone, the Sublite offers “exceptional efficiency and ease of use,” bringing the high-performance technology of the original Submarine to the world of lightweight racing.
Technical Specifications: Power at 1.55kg
Ozone claims the Sublite is currently the lightest sub-type race harness on the market. Despite its featherweight profile, it does not compromise on structural integrity.
- Weight: Only 1.55kg (Size M).
- Chassis: 3D Dyneema-reinforced for maximum weight savings.
- Stiffeners: Carbon and PETG rods along the back and sides for superior control.
- Safety: EPP protector certified at a 42g maximum peak of impact.
- Construction: Nitinol frame nose for rapid pod inflation and compact packing.
Innovative Features & Ease of Use
Unlike traditional complex racing harnesses, the Sublite is designed for quick launches and high-pressure competition environments.
- Magnetic Closure: The pod seals automatically, neatly and securely.
- Simple Entry: A “one toggle clip, one zip” system ensures you are ready to fly in seconds.
- Optimized Reserve: The reserve container is positioned for rapid access, with bridles pre-connected to the shoulders for maximum safety.
- Customization: Includes a removable cockpit and a chest pocket for extra storage.
The Flight Experience: “True Performance”
The Sublite is tailored for ambitious XC pilots and hike-and-fly competitors. Because it is a submarine-style harness, it offers a semi-reclined, aerodynamic profile that maximizes glide ratio.
Designer Baptiste Lambert notes: “The result is a harness that is exceptionally light and remarkably comfortable. Its compact flying position delivers outstanding stability, even in strong turbulence.”
Note for Pilots: The compact, aerodynamic profile slightly reduces the field of view compared to standard pod harnesses. However, experienced pilots will find that the trade-off—unmatched precision, agility while thermalling, and a sink rate nearly identical to the original Submarine—is well worth it.
Sizing and Aesthetics
The Ozone Sublite is available in four striking colors: Blue, Lime, Red, and Gold.
