YOWFLY Children’s Training Paraglider: Coming Soon

Kids Harnesses

There’s a moment every paragliding pilot can probably relate to — you’re soaring above the mountains, wrapped in silence and sunlight, and you think: “I can’t wait to share this with my kids.”

When paragliders become parents, a new dream takes flight alongside the old one. We want our children to experience the magic we feel every time we launch. And that dream raises a simple but important question: what’s the right way to introduce young ones to our sport?

Starting with Ground Training

Before any child steps toward a real wing, there’s an essential first step: ground-based training. Learning to feel the wind, manage drag, and understand aerodynamics on the ground builds the foundation for everything that comes later. Training exercises on the ground have long been the go-to approach for this — and they work well.

But as children grow and curiosity deepens, many parents start asking: what’s next?

The Missing Piece: Children’s Training Wings

The market for children’s paragliding gear has been remarkably thin. Most training equipment is either too basic or too advanced — scaled-down certified wings designed for actual high-altitude flight. What’s been missing is something in between: wings specifically designed for young pilots learning the fundamentals.

As pilots ourselves, we know what we need from a children’s training wing. The requirements are refreshingly simple:

  • Ground training — enough lift to feel real flight dynamics without requiring high altitude
  • Small slope flying — safe, low-level launches where young pilots can experience the genuine sensation of paragliding under supervision
  • Appropriate weight range — wings sized for smaller bodies and lighter loads

Training Wings vs. Certified Wings

It’s important to understand why a training wing isn’t just a smaller version of a certified paraglider. Certified EN-rated wings are designed for high-altitude flight in conditions that require specific performance characteristics and safety margins. They’re built for adult pilots operating within legal flight frameworks.

A child’s training wing serves a completely different purpose — and that’s by design. For supervised ground training and small slope launches, a full certified wing isn’t necessary, appropriate, or legally suitable. The YOWFLY children’s training range is being developed specifically for these use cases: learning environments, not high-altitude flight.

YOWFLY Children’s Training Range: Coming Soon

We’re developing two size categories to cover the weight ranges where young pilots typically fall:

CategoryRecommended Weight RangePrimary Use
Junior 115–30 kgGround training, small slope flights
Junior 230–50 kgGround training, small slope flights

These wings won’t carry EN certification — because that certification applies to a flight regime these wings aren’t designed for. They’re training tools, built for supervised learning environments where safety can be actively managed by experienced pilots.

For Paragliding Families

If you’re a pilot with children, you understand the unique joy of watching someone you love discover what you love. A training wing sized for small bodies opens a door — not to unsupervised solo flight, but to shared experiences, family flying days, and the gradual, safe development of the next generation of pilots.

We’re building these wings because we’re pilots too. We know what works, what keeps kids engaged, and what creates the foundation for a lifetime relationship with free flight.
