AeroRemote: A Bluetooth Controller for In-Flight Instrument Management

Modern paragliding cockpits are increasingly complex. With flight computers, communication apps, action cameras and various devices all competing for attention, pilots often find themselves taking their hands off the brakes more than they’d like. A small Swiss company called Aufwind believes they’ve created a solution.

The AeroRemote is a compact Bluetooth device that lets pilots toggle between and control their instruments without releasing the brake lines. Aufwind describes it as “your central command centre for all your electronic flight gear — without taking your hands off your glider.” It can manage flight computers, Zello communication, radios and action cameras from a single unit, mounted wherever the pilot needs instant access.

The device features two joysticks, each offering five functions across five axes. Every position can be assigned a specific function — push-to-talk on Zello, zoom in and out on XCTrack, and more. It’s already compatible with Skytrack Pro and Anytone, with software updates in development to support GoPro, DJI and Insta360 cameras.

Creator Raphi Jeger, an ambitious XC pilot, says switching pages, zooming and toggling waypoints is effortless with the AeroRemote. A key design consideration was usability with thick heated winter gloves — rather than gripping the sticks, pilots slide their fingers across them.

Battery life is impressive at 2,000 hours, which Jeger says should last a full year even for the most active pilots. The device weighs just 16 grams and can be mounted on either the left or right riser. Several Swiss League pilots are already using it, including Roger Aeschbacher who recently finished second at PWC Brazil and contributed feedback during development.
