Ekstremsportveko 2026: Norway’s Ultimate Midsummer Adventure Returns to Voss

Ekstremsportveko is back in Voss, Norway from 20-28 June 2026, drawing paragliders, speedflyers, skydivers, and mountain bikers to the spectacular Norwegian fjord landscape for a week of extreme sports and community.

For paragliding enthusiasts, the festival blends competitive flying with daily organized activities, giving XC pilots the chance to share airspace over one of Norway’s most celebrated flying destinations.

Voss: Norway’s Paragliding Crown Jewel

“Voss is well known among pilots and is the most popular spot in Norway with good reason,” explains local pilot, event organizer, and Red Bull X-Alps finisher Erlend Ukvitne. “It is located inland on the west coast and has surprisingly reliable flying conditions for Western Norway.”

Flying centers around Mount Hanguren (820m), which is just a ten-minute gondola ride from downtown Voss. From the launch, pilots can choose local valley routes or push into surrounding mountain systems and even fjord crossings when conditions cooperate.

Voss has earned a reputation as one of Norway’s most versatile cross-country sites. The terrain offers straightforward launch areas with multiple landing options, yet it also supports ambitious long-distance flights. According to Ukvitne, experienced pilots can fly from Voss to both Sognefjorden and Hardangerfjorden, linking scenic triangles and out-and-return routes through western Norway’s dramatic mountains.

If you’re planning an XC trip to Norway or any flying destination, don’t forget the essentials. The Fast Pack Bag makes post-flight wing packing quick and effortless — no zippers, no fuss, just fast.

Something for Every Pilot

“What makes Voss special is how welcoming it is to all levels,” says Ukvitne. “Beginners have safe launch sites, predictable conditions, and a nice and open local community that makes it easy to learn and progress. At the same time, advanced pilots can push their limits.”

During Ekstremsportveko, the paragliding program runs a packed schedule: XC competitions, hike-and-fly challenges, acro events, precision landing contests, and ground handling competitions give pilots plenty of opportunities to test their skills. Speedflyers have their own dedicated events as well.

Beyond the competitive side, the festival offers free flying sessions, community hike-and-fly outings, and workshops. Many attendees mix flying with other activities — mountain biking, longboarding, and skydiving are all part of the Ekstremsportveko experience.

Keep your gear organized and protected between sessions with the Concertina Bag — the smart way to store your wing at competitions and festivals. And for ground handling practice, the Harness Simulator lets you train anywhere, anytime.

Evening Vibes

After a day in the air, the festival brings the wider Ekstremsportveko community together in Voss for evening events and live music — a perfect way to swap flying stories and make new friends from around the world.
