Saint-André-les-Alpes to Close to Groups and Schools from 4-19 September

Pilots hoping to visit Saint-André-les-Alpes this autumn should be aware that the iconic French flying site will be closed to organised groups from 4 to 19 September 2026.

One of Europe's most celebrated cross-country paragliding destinations — and a perennial favourite among flying schools and guided tour operators during the late summer season — the site has been fully reserved for two major paragliding competitions during this two-week window.

Site managers Aérogliss confirmed in a social media announcement that training courses, club trips and organised group activities will not be permitted during the closure period, with no exceptions to be made.

The restriction does not extend to individual pilots. However, independent flyers should be prepared for limited launch availability outside of competition windows, and may face temporary operational constraints while events are underway.

"These measures are essential to guarantee the safety of competitors, officials, volunteers and visiting pilots, while enabling the competitions and their logistics to run smoothly," the statement read.

The announcement also serves as a reminder that all professional schools and training organisations are required to notify site managers in advance before operating any courses at Saint-André-les-Alpes, even outside of this closure period.

Clubs, schools and tour operators are being urged to refrain from scheduling visits during the affected dates.
