Saint-André-les-Alpes Site Closure Notice: 4-19 September 2026

Pilots planning autumn trips to the renowned French flying site of Saint-André-les-Alpes should be aware that the location will be unavailable to organised groups from 4-19 September 2026 (inclusive).
One of Europe most celebrated cross-country paragliding destinations, Saint-André attracts numerous schools and guided tours during late summer. However, the site has been reserved for two major paragliding competitions during this period.
What the Closure Means
During the two-week window, training courses, club trips, and organised group activities will not be permitted. Site managers Aérogliss have stated that no exceptions will be made to this rule.
The restriction does not apply to individual pilots flying solo. However, private flyers should note they will only be able to launch outside competition launch windows and should expect temporary restrictions during competition operations.
Why the Measures?
Site managers explain the restrictions are essential to ensure safety for competitors, officials, volunteers, and visiting pilots, while allowing the events and their logistics to proceed smoothly.
This announcement also serves as a reminder that all professional schools and training organisations must notify site managers in advance before conducting courses at Saint-André-les-Alpes, even outside the closure period.
Planning Your Trip
Clubs, schools, and tour organisers are advised to avoid scheduling trips during the competition period. If you are planning a training trip or guided tour, consider the following alternative dates or check with the site managers for availability.
