Niviuk reveal the Arrow 2 – a practical pod harness for everyday XC

Niviuk chose this year’s Coupe Icare to reveal the Arrow 2, a refreshed version of their mid-range pod harness built for the everyday cross-country pilot rather than the podium.
Described as a classic pod harness for pilots who want to fly XC, the Arrow 2 is “versatile enough for everyday use, comfortable for hours in the air and efficient over long distances,” according to the Spanish brand. The internal frame has been completely redesigned to follow the shape of the body more closely, supporting and surrounding the pilot while staying flexible where the harness needs to move with the body’s curves.
Speaking at the French festival, designer Tim Rochas positioned the new harness as a step up from the Arrow P without leaping all the way to a fully inflated, submarine-style race pod. “We tried to make it more easy, more foldable, but with the possibility of putting two rescues in it,” he said — a nod to the two reserve compartments that set the Arrow 2 apart.
Comfort has clearly been a priority. A layer of foam above the seat gives a softer, more even platform and better support for the legs, hips and back, while a padded section at the top of the backrest cushions the upper back. The fairing has also grown longer and taller, wrapping the pilot’s head into the harness profile to cut drag and steady the airframe around the yaw axis.
Protection comes as standard in the form of an inflatable protector scored at 32.5 G, inflated by a tiny 55 g electric pump that ships with the harness. Pilots who prefer a conventional setup can opt for a foam protector instead, and an extra 8 cm-thick foam layer covers the back area for added peace of mind. The Arrow 2 is available in four sizes.

Getting the most from any new pod harness starts on the ground, and many pilots use a Harness Simulator to build confidence with ground handling and in-flight adjustments before committing to big XC ambitions. When it is time to head home, a Fast Pack Bag makes breaking camp and packing the harness quick and hassle-free.
