Mike Kung launches MK-Flightsystems with a three-wing parakite range

The undisputed master of groundhandling is now a wing designer. Mike Kung — pioneer of extreme manoeuvres and one of the most recognisable names in dynamic coastal soaring — has launched MK-Flightsystems (mkfs.at) together with Ria Kung, Ralf Bielmeier and Stefan Schneiter. The project was shaped on alpine slopes and coastal dunes, and it carries a clear philosophy: flying does not begin when your feet leave the ground, but in the precise connection between risers and wind.
The range splits strong-wind flying into three technical steps. The Spike is the entry point, built with a forgiving wind window and progressive inflation that does not overshoot. The Supra is the centrepiece — offered in 17, 21 and 25 m² — engineered for dynamic transitions, with wingtip steering through a dedicated line branch on the stabilo for flat, tight turns, plus a reflex profile that stays solid in gusts. The Sicario, a higher-aspect high-performance wing aimed at experienced pilots, is scheduled for a full release in the 2027 season.
A defining detail is the riser architecture, tuned for ultra-sensitive control from the C-risers so the angle of attack can be modulated in real time. Two harnesses complete the line-up: the robust MK Freestyle, which can carry two reserves, and the light, agile Swag built for touch-and-go play and low-level flying.
For a discipline that blurs the line between flying and sliding, having someone of Kung’s pedigree pour decades of testing into his own brand is good news for the community. These are wings designed around riser feel and clean management of inertia rather than showy tricks.
When you pack the wing down after a session, a Concertina Bag keeps the leading edge protected, and a Your Journey Bottle helps you recover fluids after an intense ground session.
