Time Running Out to Enter The Illume Photography Awards — Aerial Category Now Open

Photographers have until the end of July to submit their work to The Illume Awards, one of the world’s most celebrated adventure and action sports photography competitions. For the first time, the 2026 edition features a dedicated aerial sports category, and one of this year’s judges is Marcus King, head of photography and design at Cross Country magazine.
“A good photo makes you want to be there and experience it yourself,” says Marcus. “I always love a great landscape, and a wing that’s going somewhere on an adventure — that’s what inspires me to fly.”
The aerial category calls for “shots that showcase humans soaring between earth and sky. Paragliding, hang gliding, wingsuit flying, and BASE jumping come alive through courage, perspective, and the pure adrenaline of defying gravity.”
The competition is free to enter and open to both amateurs and professionals. The grand prize is a full Leica SL3S system with professional lenses, worth over EUR 10,000. All shortlisted photographers receive promotional exposure across the competition’s global audience.
Entries close on 31 July — don’t miss your chance to get your flying photography seen by the world.
