Swing Launches Sphera 2 RS — A Purebred EN-C for Serious XC Pilots

Swing Sphera 2 RS

Swing has launched the Sphera 2 RS, a two-liner built for ambitious cross-country days and competition flying, targeting pilots with solid EN-C experience. With an aspect ratio of 6.9 and 75 cells, the wing was originally developed as an EN-D but achieved an EN-C rating during certification.

Swing describes the wing as offering accessible handling, high top speed and a strong glide ratio. “Many two-liners in this class demand constant attention,” the manufacturer notes. “The Sphera 2 RS does not. That was the design goal, and it is what sets it apart.”

At the heart of the design is Swing’s signature Ram Air Section Technology (RAST), which manages airflow inside the wing to boost stability and improve collapse behaviour. Other key features include nitinol wires, a sharknose profile and rear riser control.

Main lines and the first gallery use unsheathed Edelrid Technora, while the second gallery uses unsheathed Dyneema from Liros. “This combination provides precise force transmission, high shape stability, and long-lasting trim over many flying hours,” says Swing. Line diameters from 1.7 to 0.4mm significantly cut aerodynamic drag, improving efficiency especially in headwinds and turbulent air.

Lines are colour-coded magenta, blue and orange for easy sorting without a sheath. The Sphera 2 RS comes in three sizes: S (85-95kg), M (90-105kg) and L (100-118kg).
