Ozone Ozium 3: A Lightweight XC Harness for Pod Rookies and Veterans Alike

Ozone have unveiled the Ozium 3, a lightweight cross-country and adventure harness aimed at seasoned pilots as well as first-time pod users.
“It’s comfortable enough for long and demanding cross-country flights, light enough for hike-and-fly and robust enough for bivouac adventures,” say Ozone. “It offers a refined balance of performance, comfort, safety, and usability for everyday flying.”
Weight and Materials
Weighing 2.65 kg in size M, the Ozium 3 is built with:
- 70D ripstop fabric for the main structure and exterior
- Double-coated 20D ripstop in the tail section
- 15mm straps and metal buckles for precise, reliable adjustments
This combination keeps the weight down while maintaining the durability needed for bivouac adventures and hike-and-fly missions.
Protection System
Protection uses the same air inflation system as the F*Race 2, extending from the thighs to the lumbar region for “effective impact absorption, whilst remaining compact when folded.”
Key details:
- Can be inflated via the storage bag or micro-pump
- Internal pressure can be adjusted during flight thanks to a valve located at shoulder height
- Remains compact when folded — ideal for travel and hike-and-fly
Magnetic Pod Closure
Inspired by Submarine-style technology, the pod closes using a magnetic line system for consistent alignment and a clean aerodynamic profile in flight.
Ozone say this also makes entering and exiting the harness quick and intuitive, even in challenging take-off conditions — a significant advantage for pilots new to pod harnesses.
Seat Plate or Leg Straps — Your Choice
The Ozium 3 features a seat plate (105g) for greater authority while weight-shifting, but can be flown without it, using the leg-strap system inherited from the F*Race 2.
Ozone say the possibility of flying it almost upright makes it suitable for pilots flying a pod for the first time — offering a gentler transition from open harnesses to the pod style.
Safety Features
- Quick-release buckles and two openable leg straps for fast, simple handling
- Lightweight Edelrid Aura karabiners (optional soft connectors can further reduce weight)
- Anti-forget locking system enhances safety during pre-flight checks
- Front-mounted rescue container for easy deployment
Versatile by Design
“By using materials we know well and an inflatable protection system that has proven its efficiency, the Ozium 3 has a small packed volume and the perfect weight for a compact, lightweight flying backpack,” says Sam Jobard in the online designer notes.
“It’s ideal for versatile use — local flights, hike-and-fly, occasional vol-biv and travel.”
Available in Four Sizes
The Ozium 3 comes in four sizes to accommodate a wide range of pilot body types.
Who Is the Ozium 3 For?
First-Time Pod Users
The upright flying position (without seat plate) and magnetic closure make this an accessible entry point for pilots transitioning from open harnesses.
XC Pilots
The 2.65 kg weight and aerodynamic pod closure deliver the performance needed for serious cross-country flying.
Hike-and-Fly and Vol-Biv
The compact packed volume and robust ripstop construction make it ideal for multi-day adventures where every gram and every cubic centimetre counts.
Gear Up for Adventure
If the Ozium 3 has you dreaming of your next XC or vol-biv trip, make sure you have the accessories to match.
Pack Fast After Landing: Fast Pack Bag
When you land far from home after a long XC flight, the Fast Pack Bag lets you pack up quickly and start walking. Drawstring + buckle closure — no careful folding required.
Protect Your Wing on the Trail: Concertina Bag
For hike-and-fly missions, protect your wing during the approach with the Concertina Bag’s accordion-style folding system.
Practise Your Launch: Paragliding Harness Simulator
A clean launch is everything in XC and vol-biv. The Harness Simulator helps you dial in your ground handling before you’re on a remote mountainside.
